BMW cars are known for their superb handling and the suspension is the primary reason for this. In the new 3 Series suspension, the philosophy still centers around a strut-based suspension. The struts are dual linked with each one having a different ball joint. One stabilizer link is connected to the strut housing and serves as the link to a direct-acting front stabilizer bar. The best part of this arrangement is that the pivot point has the ability to move in a way that would be impossible with only one ball joint.
It is important to keep the BMW suspension in top shape and in order to do that, you should have it checked out regularly by a qualified mechanic at The Euro Shop in Lake Villa. The rear shock mounts and trailing arm bushings have been known to fail prematurely.Written By: Glenn Harris
